According to an order issued by Punjab IGP Amjad Javed Saleemi on Friday, all the SHOs will be liable to ensure their presence at least for two hours a day in their respectively police stations. As per the order, the SHOs will sit in their police stations from 4pm to 6pm in summer and 3pm to 5pm in winter.

The SHOs have also been directed to listen to the grievances of the people during these hours. The IGP also ordered that all CCTV cameras should be made operational from first of February and no negligence will be tolerated in this regard.

An official said that these cameras will be linked to the already established 'front desks' at police stations. The price of the cameras will be around Rs 1250 to Rs 1850. The IG said the activities of the SHOs will not be monitored at the Central Police Office (CPO) but all the Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) can also watch their presence or activities through these cameras.
